:my natural hair regimen........

Hello everyone! Thanks for taking out time to read my blog and your feedback is appreciated:) On this blog I will be talking about my hair regimen and answering FAQ. First off I would like just tell you guys about my natural journey. I have been natural since May 2011,(7mo.natural) I did do the "BC"(big chop) because that is what was convenient for me. The Big Chop is NOT mandatory when going natural, but a different subject for a different time. This journey has been hard, frustrating, but yet rewarding, beneficial, and I have fell IN-LOVE with my "new hair". At first it was hard to figure out what worked for as far as hair-care products.....not everyone has the same hair, I went through so many products but i finally figured out what worked, what didn't and what absolutely i did NOT need to use/do! Okay, for moisture, right now I am using "Organic-ROOT Stimulator Olive Oil hair lotion". I tried to go with just regular hair grease, but I soon figured out that my hair just could not hold it. I would grease it good before bed, and the next morning it looked dryer that before I applied the hair grease. So then I decided to just make my own moisturizer, by using ingredients I got from 'NikkiMae2003' the ingredients consist of 100% African Shea Butter, Olive Oil, Cocoanut oil, & Jojoba oil. It works great, but I think it is better used when i am doing Twist-Outs or Braids. So after I figured that moister was what my hair NEEDED, I went to my local hair/beauty store and got just that! For defining my curls i am using "Eco Styler Gel" awesome stuff- and leaves NO flaky build up nor does it make your hair feel like concrete, but it gives a secure hold. I also use it on my 5 yr. old who has naturally curly hair:) and of course the BEST product of all that I use faithfully is WATER-I can never go wrong. it helps me to detangle my hair and help me to style my hair. Those are the products i am using as of right now so here is my regimen:
1)First I wet down my hair when doing twist. braids, or a high puff. Grease, is better used for this for gloss and shine a a firm hold, my Eco Styler Gel is also in the mix.
2)I come through using my 'DENMAN' hair brush(if you are natural this brush in an awesome tool to have on hand) usually I have to section my hair into 4 or 5 sections and detangle like that.
3)depending on what styles I am going for i do use hair pins for holds of twist, or when i am just going for a great "pin-back" hair style.
For my dry hair look I just use my moisturizer, when it is needed. Also if I plan on wearing a TWA, before bed I put my hair up into 6 small ponytails and wear it to bed, then i just take my 'homemade- moisturizer' and apply to each section and pick it out. A organic glosser (serum) from "Organics" is used a s well. This product not only smells awesome, but it also leaves a very shiny coat on my hair.
FAQ: Q: "What oils do you use and where do you get them?"
A: Olive oil, Tea tree oils, Coconut oil, and Shea butter. A whole foods store.

Q: "why did you go natural?"
A: It was something i have always wanted to do, but it wasn't until I knew who I was
in Christ that I felt comfortable to do it. Self acceptance is #1 in loving yourself.

Q: "How often do you Co-wash, and shampoo/condition?"
A: Co-wash, Bi-weely (depending on how may different hair products I used in the
                                  prior. Shampoo?Condition: Monthly

Q: "What is you hair type?" A: I know that is my sound funny, but I 2 textured hair.
but 4A would be the best to call it. I have very tight curls. Kinky coils is what

these are just a few questions I have been asked recently. have any more you in can inbox them to me buy going to my profile on Facebook. Thanks for taking time to read my blog. I am very excited about my hair  journey and eager to see what it will look like in years to come. If you are natural or thinking about becoming natural, here are some word of encouragement: "The hair is the richest ornament of women"-Martin Luther
Do not be discouraged by the texture of your hair. You are "fearfully and wonderfully made." You are who you are and you are made perfect because you were created by a perfect God. Stay encouraged, love yourself, and how God made you. Care NOT what other thinks of you by how you look, but how you carry yourself and the love of Christ that dwells in you.
