Family, Firecrackers, Food & Fun!!

I hope you all are having a fun and safe 4th of July celebration! I am so thankful for this country. God bless the USA!

........besides Thanksgiving & Christmas, July 4th is one of my most favorite holidays to celebrate! It's a day when most of us take the time to visit, fellowship, laugh, have fun with family, and most of all indulge in some GOOD MOOD FOOD!!!!
However you celebrate your Fourth of July, whether it's tradition, bbq, parades or history let us all remember the reason we celebrate this special day.

....Summer Fun!



  • Hello my beautiful Readers!!!! It's been awhile since I have blogged, & thought it was about that time......plus I wanted to share with you all what a fantastic summer I have had so far! Here goes!!

    So, shortly after school let out I worried and worried about what I would do as far as work wise during summer break. Because I am a tutor at an outreach organization in my town, my work schedule is identical to that of a school teacher(just with out summer pay, lol!) My biggest concern was being out of work for the whole summer and not being able to have a comfortable summer financial wise. Yes, I can be a bit of a worrier.......ha! I have had my fair share of breakdowns, but because of my relationship with Christ we are able to handle things a lot different now.



    I began to pray and just ask God that his will be done. Whatever He saw fit, let it be.
    I have had friends of mines say, "Girl you better be careful what you ask God for, you may be surprised!" But I am at a point in my walk with Christ to where I know and understand that whatever God has for me is for me & he will NEVER harm me. And no, I will not be surprised......it will be expected. It does tell us in Hebrews 4:16 "Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." And so I do just that!! In KJV it says to approach "boldly", meaning: 'not hesitating or fearful; with courage and trust'
    Because God is faithful and just, when I approached him confident yet humble, he had already gone before me and opened doors. I was offered a leadership position at the same place I was a tutor at!!!! GOD IS AMAZING! I couldn't have been more happier and thankful. Not only was it a job opportunity, but it allowed me to stay in contact with all my LH kids, love on more kids, build friendships, meet new people and most of all SHARE THE LOVE OF CHRIST AND HIS AMAZING, SAVING GRACE. I am so blessed to have such an amazing job, a great staff and serve such a great and awesome God! He is just and faithful to his word. I am currently still awaiting another door that will soon be opened as well, and as I wait I will continue to serve God and his children.



    So far we are 3 weeks in and have had 18 young men and women give their hearts to Christ.
    We have been given the opportunity to provide a great positive place for kids, have allowed them to have the best summer ever and just love on them!

One of My Fav Dishes..........

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog!! I wanted to share with you guys one of my easy & quick dishes I love to prepare for a family of 6! Not only is it quick and easy but it is VERY delish too!

As a Mother of 4 very, very picky eaters, at times preparing dinner can be a bit of a struggle. I 2 who don't eat veggies at all and 2 who do. I have one who doesn't eat bread, and one like chicken ONLY in nugget form, lol! Whatever the case may be, you an get an idea of how some of my evening are spent when figuring out "WHAT'S FOR DINNER!" 
But, a year ago I discovered a dish that all my children liked that was quick, easy a good. I also found ways to hide in veggies(puree) but that is another blog for another day:)

This dish is very quick and easy & for me great to prepare on a day that has been filled with work, errands, housework, laundry and everything else I like to pile in on my "to-do" list. Prep time for this dish is about 6 minutes and serves 6 as well!  I am a LOVER of pasta!

what you will need for this delish dish::
  • 2 pounds chicken meat, cut into strip
  • 1 (16 ounce) jar prepared Alfredo sauce
  • 1 can of diced tomato 
  • Italian Dressing Mix

Directions


  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil; cook pasta at a boil until tender yet firm to the bite, about 8 minutes; drain.
  2.  Sprinkle chicken with Italian dressing mix and garlic powder. You can also season it with something of your choice:)
  3. Pan-fry chicken in a nonstick skillet over medium heat, cooking in batches if necessary, until the juices run clear and chicken meat is no longer pink in the middle, about 10 minutes per batch. Turn chicken pieces over after about 5 minutes of cooking.
  4. Transfer chicken to a serving bowl and toss with cooked pasta. Pour Alfredo sauce over chicken and pasta, mix thoroughly, and serve.
I have learned, with this dish that serving a salad and Garlic bread  tops it off and is a WIN with my family. It brings in the different textures needed and and gives you a hot/cold tone that some may enjoy while eating!

You train what?!?!

Paragon Martial Arts will be hosting it's very first Women's BJJ 'PowWow' July 27, 2013. I am so excited about this opportunity and the doors it will open for our women's program, our gym and women in BJJ as a whole!

I can't begin to tell you how much I've tried to get the word out to women in my community about physical fitness and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I do understand (not really, lol!) that this art, sport or hobby, whatever you may consider it, isn't for everyone HOWEVER physical fitness is! I am so thankful for BJJ being introduced to me. It has opened up so many doors, built great friendships and has gotten me in the BEST shape of my life. Let me explain exactly what BJJ is for those who may not be familiar with what I LOVE to do. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is: is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting.

BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique, taking the fight to the ground – most notably by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self-defense.

So, yea........this is what I enjoying doing, ha! I like to choke people and dislocate joints! LOL! I also train along side my husband who is also my instructor. I have been training for 2 years and he has been training since 2006........he's a purple and I am VERY close to receiving my blue:) I train with a group of awesome guys 4-5 days a week and train with a small group of ladies 2x a week. It's hard to fit it in with being a wife, a mother of 4, work and just day to day things but I make a way. Plus, anything that is worth doing & you enjoy doing is worth making time for. Right?

Anniversary Month!!!!!

Perry and I will be celebrating our 4yr. wedding Anniversary in just 3 more weeks!! It still seem like only months ago I vowed to stick closer than a brother, (well in my case a sister, lol) to my best friend........so, this blog is dedicated my soulmate, my best friend, my life partner, better half, the Ying to my Yang, my dear Husband!

In June/July 2000 I come to know Perry through a few mutual friends that we had. He was the silliest, most playful, annoying guy EVER! lol! He has a very unique sense of humor & anyone who knows Perry would agree:) However the Perry I kinda knew about in school was different from the Perry I come to know that summer of 2000. Perry was different.......MUCH different than any other guy & that is what attracted me to him. Perry has been such a great addition to my life.......He is more than I could have ever imagined in a friend, a Husband and as a Father to our children. He is a phenomenal Father figure & a great provider for his family. He never thinks selfishly and always make sure that our needs are met! He loves me unconditionally and loves me for who I am. He has never asked me to change to accommodate himself.....and if he did it was for my own good! ha! (bad habits that needed to be broken)

He has always looked out for me, always taken care of me and has never changed his love for me! The bond that we share can NOT and will NEVER be broken........We are forever, we are endless & we are One. 13 years together is a loooooooong time, and I am looking forward to 13x13 more with him!

the small stuff will once be a BIG thing......

One day, as I was doing my daily rounds of picking up trucks, dolls, leggos & in my 4 year old's case, a dozen of bowling pins & too many bowling balls (the play-set of course) I found myself getting rather tired of the constant bend-over and placing things back in it's right place! I can't tell you all how many times a day I have to remind my kiddos, "not to leave their toys out and just laying around the house." lol!

We tend to have a a issue with shoes as well! Because my girls are much like their Mommie (ha!) we change out shoes all the time throughout the day. Only difference, I do my changing out in my room and place my shoes in the closet.......them.......not so much!

One day as I was cooking & cleaning in the kitchen, my 7 yr.old decided she would take her shoes off and just leave them sitting in the middle of the floor. I immediately thought to myself, "I will be so glad when I won't have to pick up toys and shoes all day long". Soon after that thought, something said, 'cherish the small stuff  because one day it will be a BIG thing......" 

Sometimes in life, we get so caught up in the things that we dislike the most, we get caught up in the doing and not enough time just taking a breath and thanking God for the small stuff we encounter everyday. The truth is, yes I get get tired, annoyed, frustrated & worn-out of cleaning and repeating myself, but I really wouldn't have it no other way.  There will come a day when all my babies will 'leave the nest' or 'fly the coop' and I honestly will have a hard time dealing with that. My oldest will be graduating high school in 6 years and my youngest will graduate in 14 years........so what I am going to do is ENJOY seeing their small shoes and favorite toys laying around the house. I am going remember their favorite places to hide their toys and tuck their shoes away, I am going to cherish the moments that my children are small because one day they all be all grown up and leaving their shoes laying around their own houses.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! 

Want to wish all the Mothers a very, special Happy Mother's Day!

Although we Mothers know that we deserve to be celebrated everyday (ha!) We do set aside one special day to just sit back and relax and celebrate all our hardwork.
Being a Mom is definitley hardwork. It takes sacrifice, patience & time but most and importantly LOVE.
To better give us a description of love, God tells us in his word exactly what love is. God himself. God is love. -
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. LOVE NEVER FAILS. 1Cor. 13:4-8

All of these describe who God is, and because Who he is and because I am in him, then I am able to pour the same type of love into my children. God has blessed me with 4 amazing, smart, healthy, beautiful children. Because of them I am able to celebrate this day with a HUGE smile on my face.
